JUDGE INA LEVIN GYEMANT (Ret.) Judge Gyemant has been active in alternative dispute resolution since her retirement from the San Francisco Superior Court in 2001. During her 20 years on the bench, she has mediated hundreds of cases including personal injury, business, professional negligence, real estate, landlord-tenant, family law, wrongful termination, race and gender discrimination, maritime, and commercial matters. Judge Gyemant has handled numerous multi-party cases involving medical malpractice, business and real estate. She has arbitrated numerous contract disputes, including disputes between developer and subcontractor, landlord and tenants, and between restaurant partners. In addition, Judge Gyemant has handled matters involving bank fraud, misuse of funds, breach of contract, television syndication agreements, and code violations in shopping malls, high-rise office buildings, residential units, and small businesses. ON THE BENCH Judge Gyemant served in every department of the Court. She was Presiding Judge for Family Law for 3 years, and as such, founded Rally Project and Kid’s Turn, an educational program for children of divorce. Judge Gyemant was assigned to civil trial departments conducting jury and non-jury trials for more than 9 years. LAW PRACTICE Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Gyemant served as a Deputy California Attorney General from 1972-81, and Deputy San Francisco Public Defender from 1970-71.
