PATRICK M. BRODERICK
Patrick Broderick has experience in many areas of the legal community. As a successful trial attorney, he handled a broad civil litigation practice, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving complex construction defects, breach of contract, real estate fraud, fire loss, landslides, easement and boundary disputes, personal injury, partnership disputes, real property, business litigation, land use issues, false arrests, false imprisonment, product liability and other litigation matters. In 1997, he was appointed Dean of Empire College School of Law. Mr. Broderick has extensive experience as a Judge Pro Tem. In 2004, he received the Superior Court award for outstanding Pro Tem Judge of the year, and in 2005 the Sonoma County Superior Court presented Mr. Broderick with their Amicus Curiae award. He has presided over civil jury trials and civil court trials. He has served on assignment as a Sonoma County Superior Court Commissioner presiding over misdemeanor criminal departments. In 2003, he received an award for his service as Judge Pro Tem for the Juvenile Delinquency Court. For over fifteen years, Mr. Broderick has served as a small claims Pro Tem Judge, setlement conference panelist, arbitrator and mediator. Mr. Broderick is noted for his realistic and straightforward approach to assisting parties and resolving cases. He is respected for his knowledge of the law and ability to identify the primary issues, which are potential barriers to settlement. BACKGROUND From 1987-1996, Mr. Broderick practiced with O'Brien, Watters & Davis LLP in Santa Rosa, becoming a partner in 1992. He handled cases in most northern California counties from San Francisco to the Oregon border, as well as the U.S. District Court in San Francisco. He has tried many jury and court trials. He has arbitrated and mediated numerous cases. He has authored articles on assumption of risk and construction defects.
